Retained by our client, a successful Injection Moulding company, we are seeking to appoint a Production Supervisor to join their team, to support succession planning. Expires 08/03/17

The role of Production Supervisor is to work towards achieving manufacturing excellence through the people and processes, applying continuous improvement and instilling this in all production/technical personnel to improve efficiencies in all aspects of manufacturing to include minimise downtime and waste.


The successful candidate for the role of Production Supervisor will need to be an autonomous operator who can motivate others and implement new working practices, aimed at greater efficiencies and encompassing the latest lean techniques.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Experience in leading a multi skilled assembly team (30+ people)
  • Understanding of MRP systems and its use to plan to meet customer requirements
  • Understanding of Logistics and inter-site transport
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Can do approach 


Job Purpose: 

  • Responsible for the manufacture and assembly of components within the department
  • Help lead the manufacturing function to meet targets and customer requirements and standards
  • Full accountability for ensuring safety, quality, cost and delivery requirements are met
  • Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
  • Help lead the team on best practice and in accordance with standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading teams
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with MRP requirements, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are maintained at all times
  • Ensure the target productivity level is achieved on a daily basis
  • Update production plans as and when required
  • Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers to ensure effective flow of work in progress to maximise output
  • Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
  • Produce written reports and make presentations as required
  • Undertake continuous training and development
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Ensure that the departments under your control operate in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
  • Carry out any reasonable task which falls within your capabilities


People Management 

  • Manage, coach, train and develop a high performing production team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
  • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required on a monthly basis
  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success
  • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record as appropriate
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them
  • Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
  • Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan



  • Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures
  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere
  • Takes ownership for team cohesion and team development. 


Qualifications and Experience Levels: 

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering qualifications to minimum of HNC/HND/Degree/NVQ level 5
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Understanding of quality standards including ISO 9001 and ISO14001
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other manufacturing systems
