The big day had arrived; The National Rugby awards took place on the 2nd of September at Twickenham stadium, - the eagerly anticipated event excelled all expectations, and was a great success.
Guests started to arrive at 17:30 for the Champagne reception, where sponsors and nominees had the opportunity to meet with each other.
750 guests attended at Twickenham Stadium, and all guests were invited through into the Rose room where The Awards took place.
The Lawson Keys National Rugby Awards are endorsed by Chris Robshaw to honour the achievements of all the thousands rugby clubs across the country. The evening acknowledged the various winners dedication and commitment to the game.
The event was opened by Ian Ritchie, CEO @ England RFU. It was then followed by Mark Lawson, Managing Director at Lawson Keys which set this scene for the evening with a warm-hearted and insightful speech. Following this, Alex Payne @ Sky Sports News, continued to present the rest of the awards with great enthusiasm as he conducted the exciting evening. Awards judges in attendance were ex England Rugby players Jeremy Guscott & Jeff Probyn.
Several of our clients in attendance commented on the evening:
Colin Tirel – MD, Arburg UK
“I had the privilege of attending the first national rugby awards dinner held at the Twickenham Stadium, it was an extremely enjoyable night and you can easily see that it achieved what it set out to do. The evening sought to celebrate and pay tribute to individuals and teams involved in rugby from the grass roots up. The passion shown by all on the night was incredible and you could see what it meant, not only the winners on the night but also everyone who was nominated.”
Paul Keeney – Operations Director, Stewart Group
“As it was a first time event I didn’t really know what to expect but I expected it to be a good night knowing the organisers. The night far exceeded expectations, stadium was fantastic, all the staff were very hospitable and food and venue were excellent.
Really good mix of people on our table and it was very easy to just sit and chat with people despite having never met any of them before (Mark excluded!). Presenter was very good and awards ceremony went very well with all aspects of rugby covered. All in all a fabulous night!”
Overall the evening was a great success, the Awards represented the achievements throughout all Rugby divisions, inspiring the many people that attended.
Lawson Keys look forward to the next National Rugby Awards, following the great response from this year, we feel it would be a great tradition to upkeep. Updates will be available on our blog and twitter page regarding the Awards.
